MEMBERSHIP

QUALIFICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP

ADMISSION : A bilingual individual (English & French) who has been trained with the "Realistic School" or agrees to complete a minimum amount of training with our work method as set by the Management Team, is eligible to become a Member of the company.

PROCEDURES :

An individual who would like to apply to become an Active Member of the Company must:

• Submit a letter of intention accompanied by a photo/resume.
• Agree to a (1) one year trial period with a first review after three (3) months.
• Commit to respect the Policy & Procedures and all company agreements.

EXCEPTIONS : The company may override the admission conditions if an Artist can show proof of an established professional reputation acceptable to the members of the Management Team.

COMPOSITION OF MEMBERS

The Company is composed of Founding Members, Full Members, Support Members and Guest Artists.

LIFE MEMBER :

A Life Member is awarded a life membership and is exempt of the yearly Membership fees.A member is awardeda life membership in recognition of sustained services above and beyond the norm for a period of at least 3 years.

A Founding Member is a Life Member. There are nine (9) Founding Members:

Julie Barbeau, Luiza Cocora, Jean-Paul Figasso, Cindy François, Valérie Gagnon-Laniel, Owain Harris, Gilles Plouffe, Liza Stekolnikova, Leigh Ann Taylor.

FULL MEMBER :

A Full Member is a member in good standing who has completed the company required training and trial period and has full rights and obligations as per the status of membership of the Company. This includes the right to vote at Annual General Meetings and the elections of Board members, being nominated as a Help & Development committee team Member and participating in The Actor’s Gym and become a Moderator. A member is considered active if he is actively involved on the H & D committee and actively training with The Actor’s Gym. Minimum yearly training requirements to maintain Membership status is 6 months in The Actor’s Gym plus a minimum of 25 hours of training with either Gilles Plouffe or John Strasberg or another company approved training institution.

SUPPORT MEMBER :

A Support Member is an actor who is working through the one year trial period and agrees to pay a yearly administration fee as set by the Management Team. This fee includes headshot and bio listed on the company web-site, access to the Actor’s Gym registration list. To become a Full Member he/she must be recommended by the Artistic Director, have accumulated a minimum of 100 hours of class time training with either Gilles Plouffe or John Strasberg, or another company approved training institution which includes the Basic Training class or an equivalency and participate in a minimum of (100) one hundred hours of in-house training with the Actor’s Gym within the last (12) twelve month period plus participate as a performer in at least (2) showcase productions and have brought to term one operational company task. He/she commits to respect the Policy & Procedures. He/she will support company productions as technical support and as understudy or back-up performer.

GUEST ARTIST :

A guest artist is a person who has been offered a specific temporary engagement with the company

VISITORS :

A visitor may audit training sessions and/or rehearsals for a minimum fee as set by the B of D. A visitor may also exceptionally participate in a training session with special recommendation made by the A.D.

MEMBERSHIP FEES

The regular yearly membership fee is set by the Management Team and paid once (1) a year, at the latest January thirty first (31st) of each year
